Bayern and Leipzig meet with the Bundesliga top table tight
Bayern München have a habit of turning the Allianz Arena into a scoring exercise, and Leipzig arrive on Saturday having just done the same thing at home.
Leipzig beat Eintracht Frankfurt 6-0 last weekend. Bayern, by contrast, were held 2-2 at Augsburg. That leaves the hosts third on 11 points, two behind the leaders, with a point to prove in front of their own supporters.
The visitors are fifth on nine points. They have won all three home games without conceding. Away from Leipzig the picture changes completely, and Munich is the toughest place in the league to fix it.
Bayern's home form is the story
Bayern have played five league games and lost none. They have won three and drawn two, scoring 16 and conceding four. Their home numbers are extreme: 12 scored and one conceded in two matches, including a 7-0 win over Union Berlin on 18 September and a 5-1 win over VfB Stuttgart on 28 August.
The road has been less comfortable. Bayern drew 0-0 at Schalke and 2-2 at Augsburg, and won 2-1 at SV Elversberg. They have taken seven points from nine away, which is fine, but nothing like the home dominance.
Leipzig have a split personality
Leipzig have scored 14 and conceded none in three home games. Away, they have scored one and conceded five in two defeats: 3-1 at Werder Bremen on 5 September and 2-0 at Bayer Leverkusen on 20 September.
They are still in a Europa League place on nine points and have a goal difference of +10, level with the leaders. A result in Munich would be a real statement. A heavy defeat would expose the problem that has followed them on the road all season.

Form guide ahead of Bayern München v RB Leipzig
Bayern's last five league games read three wins, two draws and no defeats, with 16 goals scored and four conceded. Leipzig's read three wins and two defeats, with 15 scored and five conceded. On the surface the sides look close, since both average roughly three goals per game. The split matters. Bayern's two draws both came away from home, while all of Leipzig's defeats came on their travels. Bayern average 3.5 expected goals per game over those five matches against 0.93 conceded. Leipzig sit at 2.58 for and 1.37 against. Bayern are in better shape, and the gap is wider than the results alone suggest.
Bayern München v RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga table
Bayern are third on 11 points from five games with a goal difference of +12, the best in the league. SC Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund lead on 13 points, so the gap to the top is two points. Bayer Leverkusen are fourth on 10.
Leipzig are fifth on nine points, also from five games, with a goal difference of +10. They are two points behind Bayern and four behind the leaders. A win would put Bayern level with the top two at least until their results are in, and take them five clear of Leipzig. A Leipzig win would lift them above Bayern and into the top four mix. It is early, but nobody wants to be chasing at the start.

RB LeipzigHead-to-head record: Bayern München v RB Leipzig
Bayern have won six of the last 10 meetings, Leipzig two, with two draws. Those games averaged 4.4 goals. Seven had both sides scoring (70%) and nine had over 2.5 goals (90%). The latest meeting was a 3-1 Bayern win in a friendly at the Allianz Arena on 15 August 2026. Before that Bayern won a DFB Pokal quarter-final 2-0 in Munich on 11 February, won 5-1 at Leipzig in the league on 17 January, and won 6-0 at home on 22 August 2025. The last Bundesliga game at the Red Bull Arena before that finished 3-3 on 3 May 2025.
The pattern is clear. Bayern have won the last four meetings, and by wide margins in the league. Leipzig do score, though: they got one in the friendly and one in January. That keeps both teams to score alive, and the goals lines are the obvious angle. With a 90% over 2.5 rate, backing goals is easier than picking a margin. A Bayern win by two or three remains the most likely correct-score range.
Where this fixture is won and lost
Possession is the first gap. Bayern average 70.4% over their last five league games against 55.4% for Leipzig. They also average 9.4 corners for and 2.6 against, compared with 6.0 and 6.0 for the visitors. Bayern pin teams back, and Leipzig have been pinned back on the road.
The second gap is at the back. Bayern have conceded 0.93 expected goals per game, Leipzig 1.37. Bayern have 9 shots on target per game to Leipzig's 7. Leipzig have the firepower to score, but their away defence has conceded 2.5 goals a game. If Bayern's wide attackers get one-on-one, that number will rise.
