Villa look to build on Brugge win
Aston Villa can put a second Champions League league-stage win on the board when Fenerbahçe visit Villa Park on Wednesday night.
The hosts won 3-2 at Club Brugge on 8 September in their opening game. Fenerbahçe are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions and drew 1-1 at home to Roma on 10 September. The visitors are no pushovers, but Villa are priced at 8/13 to win for a reason.
Aston Villa
FenerbahçeHow they got here
Villa's route is short so far. They have played one league-stage game, and it was a good one: three goals and 21 shots at Brugge, with an expected goals figure of 3.22. They also conceded twice, with Brugge scoring in the 16-30 and 61-75 minute bands. Villa averaged just 36% possession in that game and still won.
Fenerbahçe arrive on the back of four wins and three draws from their last seven, scoring nine and conceding four. Those games include qualifying ties against Gornik Zabrze, Sturm Graz and Lyon, which they won 2-1 away in the second leg on 26 August. The draw with Roma was their first Champions League league-stage outing. They have kept three clean sheets in those seven.
Rotation and selection
Rotation is not a big factor for Villa here. With a league-stage campaign still in its early weeks, every point matters, and a home game against a side priced at 4/1 is one they are expected to win. Expect a strong XI, restricted mainly by the absentees.
Fenerbahçe have used a 4-2-3-1 in six of their seven games this season and are likely to stick with it. They average 1.29 goals a game and have not failed to score once.
