Xavi Simons is heading back to RB Leipzig on loan for the 2024-25 campaign.
The Netherlands forward has been a target for both Manchester United and Bayern Munich this summer, but has opted to head back to the club where he thrived last term.
He remains an official Paris Saint-Germain player, but the French champions were not keen on selling him on a permanent basis and preferred to deal with the German side again.
Leipzig said: “Speculation surrounding Xavi’s future can finally be put to rest, with the Netherlands international (20 senior caps) returning to the Red Bulls for the new season.
“RB Leipzig will loan the 21-year-old from French giants Paris Saint-Germain for another year.”
According to reports, Simons made the choice to move back to Leipzig, rather than join Bayern.

This was due to the fact that the 21-year-old feels more secure in Leipzig and would be guaranteed a starting spot.
Simons scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists across all competitions in 2023-24.
Leipzig are set to play Paris Saint-Germain in a pre-season friendly later this week, meaning Simons could line-up against his old team almost immediately.
