Tottenham are investigating midfielder Yves Bissouma after he uploaded a video on social media of him inhaling laughing gas.

The 27-year-old was in possession of nitrous oxide – the use of which has been a criminal offence since 2023.

Spurs say they are looking into the incident, and the Mali international has since apologised for his actions.

He said: “I want to apologise for these videos. This was a severe lack of judgment.

“I understand how serious this is and the health risks involved, and I also take my responsibility as a footballer and role model very seriously.”

Possession of nitrous oxide can land you up to two years in prison and is known to have damaging effects on the brain.

The incident comes just a week before Spurs open their Premier League campaign against Leicester.

A spokesperson for the club added: “We are looking into the events.

“This will be dealt with as an internal matter.”
