Premier League results today: Forest held at Luton, Fulham thrash Spurs, Burnley beat Brentford

Luton Town missed the chance to move out of the Premier League relegation zone but rescued a draw against Nottingham Forest on an afternoon of action at the bottom of the table on Saturday.

Luke Berry scored an 89th-minute equaliser for a Town side who are nine without a win with nine matches of their season remaining.

The result of the day came at Craven Cottage, where Fulham beat Tottenham 3-0 to emphatically record their first home win in the fixture in 14 years and give manager Marco Silva his first ever victory over Spurs.

Burnley remain second-bottom and are four points behind the Hatters courtesy of the fourth win of their league campaign at home to struggling Brentford.

Sergio Reguilon’s ninth-minute dismissal was the earliest red card of the Premier League season, and Jacob Bruun Larsen converted the resulting penalty to put the Clarets on their way to a 2-1 win.

Luton vs Forest: Result ends all-square

Fourth-bottom Forest remain three points above Luton, arriving at Kenilworth Road on a run of three successive defeats but starting brightly, Divock Origi having an early effort cleared off the line by Issa Kabore.

After Origi went close again, Morgan Gibbs-White supplied Chris Wood from the left to hit a deserved 34th-minute opener.

Teden Mengi had an equaliser ruled out when he fired in three minutes before half-time, and defender Murillo almost scored a sensational goal early in the second half when his free-kick from inside his own half was tipped over the crossbar by backpeddling Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.

Substitute Berry pounced on Reece Burke’s header for the late leveller. Luton are also three points behind fifth-bottom Everton, although the Toffees have a game in hand.

Fulham vs Spurs: Rodrigo Muniz goals fire hosts

Tottenham would have displaced Aston Villa in fourth had they won at Fulham, having thrashed the Villans 4-0 at Villa Park in their previous outing.

Silva was asked on Friday if his players had less to play for than their opponents, but the 12th-placed side soared to a second successive 3-0 home win following their hammering of Brighton & Hove Albion on March 2.

In-form Rodrigo Muniz did much of the damage, profiting from Antonee Robinson’s cross in the 42nd minute and bundling in a second 16 minutes after the break.

In between, Sasa Lukic opened his Fulham account to help move them three points above Bournemouth and one behind Chelsea, having played 29 league games.

Burnley vs Brentford: Fofana in the goals again

An 11-match winless run since December 23 has left Burnley desperate for victories and the dismissal of Reguilon for stopping Josh Cullen from shooting by pulling him back afforded Bruun Larsen a chance he coolly took to put them ahead following a five-minute VAR intervention.

After spurning a glorious earlier chance, David Datro Fofana completed a counter-attack by slotting past Mark Flekken to make it 2-0 midway through the second half.

Kristoffer Ajer replied with an 83rd-minute diving header from Bryan Mbeumo’s cross and the Bees had an added-time goal disallowed for an Ivan Toney foul as their winless run extended to six games, including five defeats.

Brentford are four points above the drop zone, while Burnley are eight from safety.

Fulham host Tottenham in the final game of the day in the top flight, starting at 17:30 GMT.
