Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo says he will willing to trust the referees to get the big decisions right in the Premier League this season.
The former Wolves and Tottenham manager has been openly critical of the officiating standard in England’s top-flight and as a result was recently fined alongside player Neco Williams.
Santo says he will reign in his criticism, but he still expects Howard Webb to drive up standards.
He also met with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited boss this summer and revealed that changes are being made to make things more efficient and more importantly, correct, on the pitch.
Santo said: “We had a nice meeting, the managers, and he [Webb] explained in detail the changes that they want to implement.
“Decisions to take less time, better decisions, I’m confident.

“I’m really confident after the meetings we’ve had things will improve, not only for Forest but for all the Premier League.
“They are trying very hard to improve. We have to trust the referees.
“When people tell you and speak to you and you see their desire to improve, we have to trust them and we as a club have to trust them.”
Santo was fined £40,000 and given a one-match touchline ban for his comments following a 2-0 defeat to Everton last season.
The Tricky Trees had been denied three penalties in the match and were left furious at Goodison Park.
They start their new campaign against Bournemouth on Saturday.
