Aston Villa have signed winger Lewis Dobbin from Everton for an undisclosed fee in a deal ending a 10-year spell at Goodison Park which the former England youth international said had given him a “lifetime of memories”.
The 21-year-old made 20 appearances for Everton in 2023/24, scoring in their 2-0 home win over Chelsea.
Dobbin spent the 2022/23 season on loan to Derby County during the Rams’ time in League One, scoring five goals in 54 appearances.

“Happy to be joining such a huge club with big ambitions,” Dobbin said on social media, sharing a photo of himself signing.
“An incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to get started and give my all for this club. See you all at Villa Park.”

Dobbin featured in Everton’s first three top-flight games last season, all of which were defeats.
His goal against the Blues was part of a total of five minutes he played between those opening losses and December 16.

A 21-minute outing in Everton’s penultimate game against Sheffield United was the only appearance he made in their final 10 league matches.

“There have been high points and lows but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I want to thank everyone associated with the club.
“Thank you for your constant support and messages. I felt like now was the right time to start a new adventure and continue to give it all to achieve my dreams.
“I’ll forever be grateful for this club and wish you all nothing but the best in the future.”

Villa 2024/25: ‘Very exciting’
Dobbin is Villa’s first signing after the 2023/24 season and will bolster their ranks ahead of their return to European football.
Villa will play in the expanded Uefa Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League.
“It’s time to rest and try to follow our players with their national teams and prepare as best as possible for next season,” said manager Unai Emery, who has signed a new five-year deal, speaking after their closing defeat at Crystal Palace in May.
“We have to enjoy the season we had and we’re very excited for next season. We have to take our time now.”
