England striker Watkins sustained a hamstring injury during the 2-0 win over Wolves last weekend while Argentina’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Martinez was a late scratch from the side that lost in midweek due to illness.

“Emi and Ollie, they are included in the squad for tomorrow. Tomorrow we will know if they are available,” said head coach Unai Emery.

There was less positive news about young midfielder Jacob Ramsey who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a toe injury.

Right-back Matty Cash remains sidelined while key midfielder Douglas Luiz will walk a disciplinary tightrope as he is one booking away from a two-game suspension.

Captain John McGinn returns having served a three-game ban for his red card against Tottenham.

Villa go into the game in fourth place in the Premier League with Spurs two points back but with a game in hand.
