Sheffield United boss Wilder admits they’ve let down supporters

Chris Wilder admits Sheffield United have let down supporters with their recent performances at Bramall Lane.

The Blades have conceded 21 goals in their last four home games across all competitions, seeing them exit the FA Cup and slip to the foot of the Premier League.

They are back on home turf on Saturday when Fulham visit South Yorkshire, and Wilder is expecting better from his players.

He said: “If we continue the way we have done over the last four or five games at home then we have no chance. We have to be defensively tighter and it is something us as staff have addressed.

“We have let the supporters down more than ourselves, so it is about giving them something to shout about now.”

United are eight points from safety, albeit with a game in hand. Time is clearly running out although Wilder concedes Fulham will present another stiff test at the weekend.

“They are a good side, we have all seen their performances,” he added.

“It is not like any other league where a home game is a guaranteed win.

“They possess quality in their ranks but hopefully it’s a reset. It’s a fresh start for us and we can get off to a decent start in these last 10 games starting at home this Saturday afternoon.”

United have three main injury concerns with George Baldock, Cameron Archer and Anis Slimane all rated as touch and go.
