Nottingham Forest: Nuno says relegation hopes not harmed by four-point penalty

-

Nuno Espirito Santo claims Nottingham’s Forest’s bid to stay in the Premier League has not been made harder by the club’s four-point punishment for breaching Profit and Sustainability rules.

Forest were handed the sanction on March 18, plunging them below Luton Town in the league table and into the relegation zone.

They have subsequently appealed – a move that brings the possibility that the punishment is increased.

Nuno’s team host Crystal Palace on Saturday and the Portuguese is focused on trying to claim a much-needed three points rather than becoming embroiled in off-field matters.

Asked if Forest’s task is now harder, he replied: “It’s equally as hard. It’s important now that we know the reality and the reality is that we had 25 points and now we have 21.

“Our job is clear from day one – to prepare our team.

“Now we know the reality and the reality is we are in the relegation zone. Who are we to say [whether] it’s fair or unfair? We have to focus on what we have to do and what we have to do is on the pitch.

“Forget about everything and focus on our task to get out of the situation. It’s in our hands to reverse this situation and to get points on the pitch.”
