Scott McTominay has said he “wants to see Manchester United win” after the club where he was first noticed 22 years ago sold the midfielder to Napoli for £25.7 million.
Scotland international McTominay, 27, made the first of his 255 appearances for United in 2017
“I’ve absolutely loved it and I’m very, very grateful for the football club,” McTominay announced.
“I’m ready for a new challenge and I’m ready to go and embrace it and take it by storm.
“I want to see Manchester United win. I want to see us do really, really well and I’ll be watching as well. Thank you for having me and I have enjoyed every minute.”

Scott McTominay United record
Only top scorer Rasmus Hojlund – with 16 – better McTominay’s tally of 10 goals for United last season.
The FA Cup and EFL Cup winner netted the total in 43 appearances in 2023-24, reaching double figures for the first time in his career.
Playmaker Bruno Fernandes was his sole team-mate to have more attempts at goal than the 44 produced by McTominay during the season.
McTominay scored 29 goals in total at United, including two against Brentford at Old Trafford.
