Manchester Untied have reportedly completed a deal to sign Netherlands forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano says the Red Devils have landed one of their top targets in a deal costing just above the €40million (£33m) mark.

Zirkzee, 23, has been one of United’s top targets this summer and is set to become the first signing of the INEOS era at Old Trafford following their minority takeover earlier this year.

He has signed a five-year deal with the club and offers a huge boost to Erik ten Hag’s attacking options for the coming season.

Zirkzee was part of the Netherlands team who was beaten 2-1 in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Wednesday night.

He was brought on for his second appearance of the tournament in stoppage time as the Dutch chased an equaliser in Dortmund following Ollie Watkins’ 90th-minute winner.

The striker, formerly on the books at Bayern Munich, scored 12 goals in all competitions for Bologna in 2023-24, adding a further four assists.

He may not be the only Netherlands player to head to the Theatre of Dreams this summer with United also pursuing a deal for Bayern centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.
