Coventry City

Coventry City began their Championship campaign with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on August 10th, but have since secured a 1-0 win over Bristol City in the EFL Cup. Coventry has strengthened their squad this summer with the signings of Jack Rudoni from Huddersfield, Brandon Thomas-Asante from West Brom, and Luis Binks from Serie A Side Bologna. Manager Mark Robins hopes these signings will have a positive impact on Coventry City’s season goals.

Oxford Utd

Oxford Utd began their Championship season with a bang and a 2-0 victory over Norwich City before following it up with yet another 2-0 win in the EFL Cup over Peterborough Utd on August 13th. Oxford has been active in the transfer market, having made a whopping 12 signings. These names include Peter Kioso from Rotherham, Idris El Mizouni from Ipswich, and Louis Sibley on a free transfer from Derby County.

Coventry vs Oxford History

The last meeting between Coventry City and Oxford Utd was back in January of 2024 in an FA Cup 3rd Round fixture in which Coventry ran our 6-2 winners on the day with goals from Joel Latibeaudiere, Callum O’Hare, Kasey Palmer, Ben Sheaf, and a brace from Mathew Godden. Coventry will, of course, be hoping for a similar result in the next encounter between these two sides on Friday, August 16th.
