Former England defender Eric Dier’s exit after 10 years has been confirmed by Tottenham, who are also releasing Ivan Perisic, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon.
A member of the Spurs team who reached the 2018/19 Uefa Champions League final, Dier made 365 appearances for the club and has been on loan at Bayern Munich since January, where the 30-year-old made enough appearances to trigger a one-year permanent contract at the German giants for the 2024/25 season.
Wideman Perisic joined Tottenham in 2022 and is part of Croatia’s squad for Euro 2024, which starts this month.

The 35-year-old joined his hometown side, Hajduk Split, in January and will start next season at the club.
Ex-England youth defender Tanganga is ending a 15-year spell at Spurs which began in their academy in 2009, while Sessegnon, who arrived from Fulham in 2019, is also leaving.

Speaking when his deal at Bayern was extended, Dier said he was “happy”. “Now my future is sorted, I can focus on playing well for the club and trying to help the club to win games and competitions, even though it’s been a difficult period for us,” he added.
After making his Three Lions debut in 2015, Dier had two memorable tournaments with his country.
The Sporting youth product scored with a direct free-kick against Russia at Euro 2016 and wore the armband against Belgium at the 2018 Fifa World Cup, where he also scored the winning penalty in England’s shoot-out win over Colombia.
Dier: England ‘my level’
Dier was also called up for the 2022 World and argued earlier this year that he should be going to Euro 2024.
“Since the World Cup, I wouldn’t say that I’ve had any dip in form,” Dier told The Overlap. “I’m playing the best football of my career.
“People think that I’m 37 or something, but I’m 30 years old and am nowhere near the end of my prime. I imagine this will be my prime.
“I want to be a part of the England set-up and I believe that I should be a part of it – that I’m that level of a player.”
