Paris Saint-Germain v Barcelona: Match Preview

Paris Saint-German will continue their hunt for a first Champions League title on Wednesday when they welcome Barcelona to the Parc des Princes for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final draw.

After falling at the last hurdle in a tough 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich back in the 2019/20 final, Luis Enrique’s side made it to the semi-finals the following season, where they, unfortunately, saw themselves on the losing side of a 3-1 scoreline vs Manchester City.

This is the furthest the French side has been since being so close to having their hands on the trophy, and they are back once again to make it one step further.

Having not made it to the final of the Champions League since last winning it back in 2015, their Spanish opponents will be looking to take a result back to the Nou Camp for the second leg and break the hearts of PSG fans in their own backyard.

Xavi’s side last made it beyond the quarter-final back in 2019 when they were knocked out in the semi-final by Bayern.

Match details

The hosts are on an incredible run of form, having not lost in 27 matches across all competitions. PSG have all but claimed the Ligue 1 title already, and winning the Champions League would be the icing on top of the cake.

Hoping to stop them in their tracks are the visitors, Xavi’s Barcelona side, who are on an 11-game unbeaten run as they travel to the French capital and seem to quite like a knockout fixture against PSG.

Expected Line-ups

Ahead of the match, the home side have an almost fully fit squad, missing only Presnel Kimpembe through injury. Achraf Hakimi is suspended for the tie.

Frenkie De Jong and Pedri are still doubts for Xavi’s side, with the manager hopeful they can make the bench.
