Aston Villa ace Matty Cash says Unai Emery will continue to command “fantastic progress” at the club.

Villa are enjoying a stellar campaign both domestically and abroad.

They currently sit fourth in the Premier League, seven points above Tottenham in fifth.

The Villans are also preparing to take on Olympiacos in the Europa Conference League semi-final, with the first leg taking place at Villa Park tonight.

Emery’s two full seasons at the helm in the Midlands have been breathtaking and there is no doubt that the Spaniard has elevated the players on the pitch.

Cash has been one of the most improved players under the 52-year-old and is excited to see what the future holds for the club.

Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: “He’s actually been more calm with us.

“He’s still really demanding, but he’s just trying to keep us in a calm mood, keep doing what we’ve been doing.

“But he’s so demanding, which I think is why he’s been so successful as manager.

“The detail he goes into. He gives it across so simply – how do you give across so much but make it simple for us to do on the football pitch?

“I guess that’s what the top managers do, because obviously he’s one of him.

“The progress we’ve made under him is fantastic. I think in two years we’ll be sitting here and I think we’ll have more, bigger progress.”

Emery arrived from Villarreal in 2022 and two years later has Villa on the verge of European glory.

Should they overcome Olympiacos in the semi-finals, they will face one of Club Brugge or Fiorentina – the side West Ham beat in last year’s final – in Athens.
