Manchester City welcome Real Madrid to the Etihad on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League quarter final.

The first leg ended with the score all square at 3-3, making for an exciting fixture as both sides must score to progress. Without the away goal rule, it is whoever wins on the night.

Pep Guardiola’s side had a great weekend that saw them thrash Luton Town 5-1 and now sit at the top of the Premier League table.

Heading into the tie full of confidence and with the backing of their loyal home supporters, the visitors however, are not a side to count out.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side knocked out their opponents at the semi-final stage in the 2021-22 competition after two late goal forced extra-time where they were able to complete the win.

Match details

City will be keen to inflict the same damage on Madrid a round earlier as they did to them in that semi final.

While the Spanish side will be hoping for a repeat result but in 90 minutes this time out.

One thing we can expect from the tie is goals. The last five Champions League meetings between the teams have produced a total of 23 goals.

The winner will go on to face the winner of the other quarter final between Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Expected Line-ups

Guardiola has no injury concerns heading into the fixture with some key players being rested on the weekend in their victory over Luton.

Ancelotti has confirmed that Thibaut Courtois and David Alaba will be absent on the night.
