Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has called the Premier League “the best league in the world” after signing a one-year contract to ensure he will return to the top flight with the Foxes in 2024/25.
Former England international Vardy scored 20 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions as Leicester made an immediate return to the Premier League by winning last season’s Championship.
The 37-year-old has won the Premier League, FA Cup and two second-tier titles since joining City in 2012, scoring 190 goals in 464 appearances.
“I’ve always said that age is just a number,” the club captain said. “My legs feel fine so that’s why I carry on until my legs say ‘that’s it, game over’. There will be a day when that comes, but that’s not right now.”

Vardy has the third-most goals of any Leicester player in history and is fourth among their all-time appearance makers.
The Premier League 2019/20 top scorer’s finest moment arrived in 2015/16, when Leicester completed one of the greatest sporting shocks of all time by winning the title with the help of 24 goals by Vardy – one behind Golden Boot winner Harry Kane.

“We look forward to another season in the Prem and seeing what we can do,” Vardy told Leicester’s website.
“One hundred per cent, it’s the best league in the world. That’s where you want to be playing your football.
“That’s where you want to be putting your performances in and I’m sure all the lads will be well up for it.”
New Leicester manager: Vardy ready
Leicester won promotion and the Championship with a game to spare in a 3-0 win at Preston North End featuring two Vardy goals but they remain managerless following Enzo Maresca’s departure for Chelsea this week.
“In football, players and managers come and go,” reflected Vardy. “The main thing is that the club is always there.
“We’ve got a good track record so I’m sure the club will be doing everything they can to get the right manager in and then come pre-season, we’ll just make sure that we get down to work and learn whatever the new manager has got for us.”
