Jamie Carragher says Liverpool’s fans should not feel a need to “take sides” following Mohamed Salah’s explosive bust-up with Jurgen Klopp on Saturday.
Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes are hanging by a thread after they drew 2-2 with West Ham at the London Stadium, and they could be six points adrift of the summit by the end of Sunday’s games.
Salah was named as a substitute for that match, having endured a miserable run of form since going to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, and he was seen arguing with Klopp as he waited to enter the fray in the second half.
Salah was asked about the incident in the mixed zone after the match and said: “If I speak today, there will be fire.”

Klopp said he considered the matter closed in his post-match press conference, saying: “We spoke already in the dressing room. For me, that’s done.”
However, many have taken the incident as a sign of unrest as Klopp’s glittering reign heads towards a somewhat unsatisfactory end, with February’s EFL Cup triumph now extremely likely to be Liverpool’s only trophy in the German’s final campaign.
Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher said of the incident: “Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp are both Liverpool legends.
“We don’t need to take sides!
“Salah is frustrated and angry with Jurgen that he’s not playing and at that moment didn’t want to fully embrace the boss, Jurgen understandably took exception.
“Mo was daft with his comment in the mixed zone but let’s let them sort it out and enjoy the last few weeks together. They’ve been a massive help to each other in all that’s been achieved at the club!”

Many expect Salah to follow Klopp out of the exit door this summer, with renewed interest from the Saudi Pro League likely as he enters the final year of his contract at Anfield.
Liverpool rejected a staggering £100millon offer for Salah – which could have risen as high as £150m – from Al-Ittihad last September.
Should Salah depart, it could be down to Arne Slot to mitigate that loss, with reports suggesting Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle with Feyenoord to appoint the Dutchman.
