Fulham 1-3 Liverpool: Gravenberch, Jota goals raise Reds above Man City in Premier League table

Ryan Gravenberch scored his first Premier League goal as Liverpool won at Fulham to move above Manchester City in the table and level on points with leaders Arsenal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold struck a sensational long-range free-kick to put Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead in the 32nd minute.

Timothy Castagne side-footed the Cottagers level in first-half added time but Gravenberch’s curler from outside the penalty area restored Liverpool’s lead eight minutes after the break.

Diogo Jota’s low 72nd-minute shot from Gravenberch’s pass sealed Liverpool’s first win in three league matches on a day when Reds top scorer Mohamed Salah started on the bench.

Fulham v Liverpool: Klopp satisfied

Everton are next up for Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday at Goodison Park, where the relegation battlers won 2-0 against Nottingham Forest earlier on Sunday for their second consecutive home win.

“For 80 minutes, we played a really good game,” Klopp told BBC Sport. “I didn’t like the last 10 minutes of the first half and they got the goal.

“But that’s alright because I loved the second half. We showed again what we did really well in the first half – we kept the ball, created and scored some good goals.

“We had some good chances on top of that, too. We made some changes and the boys did really well.”

Salah’s initial exclusion was one of six changes Klopp made to his starting side from Liverpool’s Uefa Europa League exit at Atalanta on Thursday.

“I said before the game that I hate thinking about the game after the game [we play next],” he explained.

“But that’s how it is. We play in another three days, so let’s see who lines up there.”
