Eric Dier is adamant he should still be part of the England squad and claimed he is playing the best football of his career.
The 30-year-old has not played for the Three Lions since the 3-0 win over Senegal in the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, 17 months ago.

He has subsequently joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham and, while the team are struggling and poised to end a run of 11 successive Bundesliga titles, Dier claims his form has been good enough to earn a recall from England boss Gareth Southgate.
He told the Overlap podcast: “Since the World Cup, I wouldn’t say that I’ve had any dip in form.
“I’m playing the best football of my career since [Antonio] Conte came [to Tottenham in 2021) and I’ve carried it on since.
“People think that I’m 37 or something, but I’m 30 years old and am nowhere near the end of my prime and imagine that this will be my prime.”
Dier has 49 England caps but it is highly unlikely he will be in the reckoning for a place in the squad for this summer’s European Championship in Germany, a situation he finds frustrating.
He added: “I want to be a part of the England set-up and I believe that I should be a part of it.”
