Brazil star Endrick: Dream Wembley winner just like a video game

Brazil hero Endrick said it was a “unique” feeling to hit the winner against England at Wembley Stadium, recalling how he achieved the same feat while playing video games as a child.

Palmeiras prodigy Endrick scored his first senior international goal on his third appearance for the Selecao on Saturday, firing his country to a memorable victory over the Three Lions.

The 17-year-old came off the bench to tap home with 10 minutes remaining, reacting quickest when Jordan Pickford smothered Vinicius Junior’s effort.

That strike ensured Dorival Junior’s reign got off to a winning start, also handing England their first defeat at Wembley since they went down 1-0 to Croatia in the Nations League in October 2020.

Asked about his winner after the game, the future Real Madrid forward said: “It’s a unique feeling.

“I used to play video games, I would play as Brazil and I remember playing here at Wembley and scoring.

“That came into my head and I kept thinking about it – I couldn’t concentrate on the game!”

Brazil’s victory was their first since they beat Peru in a 2026 World Cup qualifier in September, with the Selecao having drawn one and lost three of their last four matches.

Dorival’s men are next in action against Spain at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, as they build towards this summer’s Copa America in the United States.
