Bayern Munich v Arsenal: Match Preview

Bayern Munich welcome Arsenal to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Both sides head into the fixture with everything to play for, with the score tied at 2-2 from the first leg at The Emirates.

After a disappointing result on Sunday, Mikel Arteta’s side suffered a blow to their hopes for the Premier League title, losing 2-0 to Aston Villa. The Gunners must put the result behind them and head into Wednesday’s fixture refreshed and ready.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel’s side could only watch on as Bayern Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title for the first time in their history on Sunday, ending Bayern’s 11-year domination.

Two sides suffering blows heading into the match, we take a look at everything you need to know ahead of the tie.

Match details

Arsenal head into the match with just one loss from their last six, while Bayern have lost just twice.

Both sides are looking to overcome what has been labelled a ‘Champions League knockout curse’ that has seen the home side lose three quarter-finals in a row since lifting the trophy back in 2020.

The Gunners are trying to reach their first final four since back in 2009!

Expected Line-ups

The home side will be without Kingsley Coman, who suffered a leg muscle injury on the weekend. Serge Gnabry, Sacha Boey, and Bouna Sarr are also doubts.

Manuel Neuer was rested at the weekend but is expected to return in goal, while Alphonso Davies will not feature due to suspension.

Arteta has a fully fit squad heading to Germany, with just Martin Odegaard being monitored for an issue that forced him off against Villa on Sunday.
