Spain v Colombia: Sinisterra injury rules Bournemouth forward out for ‘at least four or five weeks’

-

Luis Sinisterra will be out for at least four weeks with a hamstring injury the forward sustained while preparing for Friday’s Spain v Colombia match, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has said.

La Tricolor forward Sinisterra will play no part in the friendly at Premier League side West Ham’s London Stadium in an international friendly.

“He has a hamstring strain,” said Iraola. “He will be out for, I don’t know, four or five weeks at least.

“It’s a shame for us because he’s someone who we had a plan with and it has been working perfectly all season.

“He’s had no injuries and been available all season for us. I’m sure Colombia also wanted to keep him with no injuries but he got an injury training with them.

“He came back because they were close – they were in London – so we have already made assessments.”

Luis Sinisterra injury

Sinisterra joined the Cherries on a season-long loan from Leeds United at the start of the campaign, making the move permanent in February for a reported £20 million.

The 24-year-old has made 26 appearances in all competitions for his new club, scoring four times and featuring in all but two of their top-flight matches since November.

Colombia have called up American club Real Salt Lake’s Carlos Gomez to replace Sinisterra.

They will hope to have the former Feyenoord livewire back for the build-up to their Copa America 2024 campaign, which starts against Paraguay on June 24.

Sinisterra was not involved in their squad for two friendlies in December but played 76 minutes across four appearances in Fifa 2026 World Cup qualifying in 2023.

An international debutant in 2019, Sinisterra has three goals in 11 caps for his country.
